If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life, this is it. There is nothing like eating a spoonful of the perfect ratios of stewed minced pork, white rice, and pickled mustard greens. Every flavor profile is satisfied to the 10th degree. I’ve just convinced myself that I actually want this to be the only thing I eat from now on.

Ingredients:

1 large shallot
4 pieces star anise
2 tablespoons rice wine
3 teaspoons five spice powder
6 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
3 lbs minced pork shoulder
3 tablespoons peanut oil
3 inch cinnamon stick
1 piece rock sugar
cooked white rice
pickled mustard greens
pickled daikons
