So, I tried using sourdough bread, and it turned out alright, but if I go to my local bakery what type of bread should I look for?
This might be a silly question, but you will see why. How much flavor do the mussels give to the liquid? My grocery store sells mussels already cracked and cooked. How convenient, right? So I made a couple recipes and put the mussels in at the very end. Although it tasted good, it didn't have nearly the punch I wanted to when dipping the bread. I've tried recipes with wine, chicken broth, stock, etc. It's just not working. Is my problem that I didn't steam the mussels with the liquid/soup? Thanks for any help.
